Charlie joins the RSNO on theremin for a performance of Lera Auerbach’s Icarus.
Mussorgsky’s musical depiction of his friend’s picture exhibition is an electrifying showpiece. Glowing skulls, dancing chickens, medieval minstrels and the Great Gate of Kiev: they’re all there, painted in sound and large as life when Thomas Søndergård conducts this ear-tingling concert. Add Lera Auerbach’s fiery Greek myth, and the fabulous Lise de la Salle in Grieg’s ever-popular piano concerto and you have the perfect recipe for a spectacular night out with Scotland’s National Orchestra.
Pre-concert talk: RSNO Chief Executive Alistair Mackie chats to pianist Lise de la Salle at 6.45pm in the Marryat Hall. Free to ticket holders.
